Erica Rae is the proud owner of Dance Expressions by Erica. In June of 2009, she began her lifelong dream! After 7 years of teaching, Miss Erica opened up her very own dance studio. She is also the Artistic Director of the DEBE Dance Team that made their mark last summer as National Champions.
Since the age of three, she began taking lessons as a recreational dancer at a local studio. She loved the stage, even then. Erica kicked off her competitive dance career at 8 years old, when she fell in love with the art form. She won countless awards and titles in her competition days. At age 14, she won her first choreography award for her lyrical solo. Her most memorable moment was in Riesa, Germany at the International Dance Olympics. As the youngest member of the Senior division (16 & over), she was shocked when she was awarded the Silver Medal for her Solo Performance.
Erica has had the pleasure of training under master teachers nationwide. With them, she has studied all dance subjects, which has molded her into the versatile dancer and teacher she is today. During her summers, she would devote her time to Point Park’s summer intensives. Erica was chosen under scholarship to participate in Point Park University’s Pre-professional program during her senior year of high school. This opportunity took Erica’s dancing to the next level. Upon graduation from high school, she had a very difficult decision to make. Point Park offered her the highest talent scholarship given to attend their school as a dance major. As her passion for performing pulled her another direction, she began to pursue her dream of becoming a professional dancer. As Erica was auditioning, she taught for some of the most recognized studios in the Pittsburgh area. After several offers with cruise lines, amusement parks, companies & theaters, Erica took a job with the Walt Disney Entertainment department. She was also contracted with Stiletto Entertainment in LA for a little over a month, where she then jumped ship. She set sail as a dancer on board the MS Ryndam. After each gig, Erica always followed her heart back to her one true love, teaching. Her passion is in the classroom with the kids. Erica’s childhood dreams have come true. She is a successful business owner doing what she loves, married to her best friend & they have a son, Jaxon – DEBE’s biggest fan!
Since opening the doors to Dance Expressions, Erica has received superb reviews from colleagues, judges & parents. Her choreography has been awarded multiple times each year. Her students have won overall placements and several titles. And with her creative mind, positive attitude & open arms, Erica encourages and inspires every student to reach their personal dance goals. She is always evolving and reinventing the studio & is always looking forward to the future accomplishments and progress of Dance Expressions!
