Summer Reed

Summer is from New Salem, Pennsylvania. She began dancing at a local dance studio at the age of 3. Studying various disciplines of dance through her early teens, Summer excelled in acrobatics and contortion. She won many top awards in regional and national competitions such as Dance Masters of America, Jump, Shock, New York City Dance Alliance and more. Summer traveled as a demonstrator for the prestigious choreographers Albert Cataffi and Eddie Moody, before being invited to study privately with Mansur Kamaletdinov, former principle dancer and acting director of the Bolshoi Ballet.

Discovering that her true passion was for ballet, Summer attended a 5-week summer intensive at Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet. Shortly after, she was offered a position as a trainee with the Kentucky Ballet Theatre, where she finished her training in their Cuban Vaganova School while dancing with the professional company. During her three seasons with KBT, Summer moved up in the company ranks, began teaching in the KBT academy, and held private workshops in Kentucky, Cincinnati and Pennsylvania. In 2014, Summer joined the Grand Rapids Ballet company and had the privilege of dancing lead roles while working with renowned choreographers, including Gina Patterson, Sagi Gross and Val Caniparoli.

To continue spreading her passion for ballet technique and contemporary dance, Summer has been offering workshops, coaching/choreographing for competitive students and holding private lessons for elite/dedicated young artists. Most recently, she has begun judging for dance competitions and has launched a dance photography enterprise, SReed© Photography, specializing in dancers/competitions as well as self/family portraits and beauty shots. Summer is currently pursuing a modeling career with DMM Management and is in the final phase of receiving certification as a Personal Trainer. You can catch her latest modeling work on the cover of the June edition for Grand Rapids Magazine, “Best of GR”, and in the international ad campaign for Amaike USA promoting Amaike Super Organza fabric.
